Appearance 
Bowhead Whales are easy to recognize. They have no dorsal fin (the fin located on the back of most cetaceans) and they have a white patch on their chin. Their thick, chunky bodies are believed to be heavier than other whales of their size. Adults are only a bit more than half the length of a Blue Whale, but can weigh almost four-fifths of a Blue Whale’s weight.
